Though July 4th traditionally commemorates a monumental event in our nation’s history, the holiday has evolved to celebrate many aspects of our country: intense nationalistic pride, massive food and beer consumption, fireworks, and of course, the independence and creation of the great USA. Remember, there’s no wrong way to celebrate the 4th! (Except buying Canadian beer…eh?) Here are some fun activities to try out, while you celebrate!

Or kick it up a notch! When you visit Lake Arrowhead, you get all the nature with a tad more luxurythan camping. Whether it’s a cabin on the Lake, or a small cottage in the nearby mountains, there are severaloptions for lodging. From 7:00-9:00 pm on the fourth, the Lake Arrowhead Association holds the annual fireworks over the lake. And from Thursday July 5th– Saturday July 7th, the fun continues with ‘’Rally Round the Lake” Jamboree Days—celebrating with a parade, music, and more fireworks! You can even squeeze in some retail therapy and shop at the Lake Arrowhead Village, with over 50 shops and restaurants to choose from. And don’t forget about all the great deals! During the 4th, stores like Coach, Jockey, and Bass typically hold enormous sales, with savings up to 75%!
If you’re hoping to celebrate at the beach, head to the South Bay. The beach community is alwaysbuzzing—crowded but exciting and fun! Manhattan and Hermosa Beach offer an experience unlike any other in Los Angeles. With crazy house parties on the strand, bumpin’ bars, and a swarming bike path, it’s a party for everyone.

And aside from apple pie, there’s nothing more American than fireworks on the 4th. So attend a showin your area! Park early to avoid chaotic driving and limited parking, and bring some snacks for the show. Be safe, and happy fourth!
