If you have children away at college, there's a good chance that they'll be back under your roof for part of their summer break, and an even better chance that they'll be asking to borrow the family car. Talk to your Tower Insurance agent about their California auto insurance needs!

Are your college students included or excluded on your current policy? It's a good idea to keep coverage for your students even while they're away at school, but if you choose to exclude them from your policy you'll need to include them now if they'll be driving again. Call your agent to check on their status on your policy.

How were their grades? Make sure we know if they were good! Many companies offer lower rates for students who are under 24 and enrolled in at least 12 units while achieving a 3.0 or higher. Talk to your agent about qualifying for this discount, or keep an existing discount in force by sending us updated grades.

Does your new graduate need an individual policy? If your child graduated and is no longer a student, he or she may still be eligible to be included in your auto policy while living in your household. Premiums can be expensive for drivers under age 25, and your child may qualify for better rates and coverage by remaining on your policy. However, that also means that your child's driving record will continue to affect your current - and future - rates. Your agent will help you determine what makes the most sense for your situation.

Should I keep students included on my policy when they return to school in the fall? Many insurance providers offer lower risk rates for students who are away at college more than 100 miles from home and without the use of a car. Coverage is a good idea even for students who won't be driving regularly. If they were to borrow a car and get in an accident, you can rest assured they are protected.
